Freedom of Code VS Freedom of Drawing

I've always pursued the idea that coding should be as intuative and organic as drawing...

It is not though, you can't have the same kind of freedom and choice within our current programming models of APIs and language based expression...

It is very much more like poetry or writing, symbol as opposed to visual expression and understanding...

I think this will eventually not be the case and many modes of programming expression will eventually be available, however for now this is what artists will work with...

The kind of freedom writing code permits acts on a different level to that of visuals - you author conditions and the environment as opposed to the thing itself...

In the real world this would be analogous to creting the conditions of the natural world, gravity, growth, time and material....

If coding is the authoring of conditions (the environment) and material (the things within the environment), if we were to combine it with drawing and painting and mark-making, would it not simply be the oppertunity to author our own kinds of material to paint with?

Author the behaviour of the material, then compose it in space (and time?)

When we have the oppertunity to make our own materials a whole new world of expression could open up. Finally able to extend expression into the fabric of what we make, not just how we use it. I think this is an area that code and drawing combined can help to build...

A balance between authored marks and authored conditions - creating indirect nuances and subtlties. Is this not the same thing painting and drawing always has been? Except trading the real-world conditions and nuances of the medium with one of your own creation...
